PrepperNotes

Overview

The word "prepper" often brings to mind a wide range of images—some dramatic, some practical. I don’t really fit most of those stereotypes. For me, preparedness isn’t about extremes; it’s about being ready for the everyday challenges and the occasional disruptions that life tends to throw our way.

Over the years, I’ve learned a lot from the events that have impacted me and my community. Each situation—whether a power outage, a storm, or a communication failure—has shaped how I think about readiness and how I plan for the next one. This collection gathers those experiences, along with the lists, kits, and notes that have grown out of them.

My approach is modular. I build and maintain a variety of pre-packed bags and kits, each with a specific purpose. When something happens, I can mix and match those modules to create exactly what I need for that moment—nothing more, nothing less.

These pages are both a record of what’s worked for me and an evolving guide to staying ready for whatever comes next.

Missions

When I talk about a “mission,” I don’t just mean something dramatic or high-stakes — it’s any purposeful activity where I prepare, plan, and execute with intention. A mission could be as simple as tackling everyday tasks efficiently, or as involved as heading out on vacation, taking an off-road adventure, responding to a local disaster, or supporting a community event with ARES. The common thread is mindset: each mission, big or small, calls for readiness, adaptability, and follow-through. Whether I’m packing gear for a trail ride, coordinating communications for a public service event, or just managing a busy day, I treat it as a mission — something to approach with focus, preparation, and a commitment to doing it well.
