2008-04 Chicago

2008-04 Chicago

This was a training trip. I was attending the WebSphere Portal Administration 1 & 2 classes at a Jack Morton training facility at 1 N State Street (in the heart of down-town). I stayed at the Palmer House Hilton. The first night, I went to the Navy Pier. It was virtually empty! One night I went out to the "White Palace Grill" - a restaurant that I learned about from the Food TV program, "Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives". It turned out to be good food and the walk down there got me to explore part of Chicago that I had not seen before like Union Station. And then one night a few guys from the class went to the House of Blues to watch/listen to Victor Wooten - an awesome bass player.

We made it to the house of blues. Had some good dinner, then we stayed around for the show. We got to see Victor Wooten (http://www.victorwooten.com/). He had Family Groove Company (http://www.familygrooveco.com/), a local Chicago band, opening for him.
