Battery Rotation
At Christmas time, we put out a handful of decorations that use batteries. I normally go to my battery drawer where I keep my stockpile of batteries in various sizes and grab the batteries that I need for the decorations. This year, I've decided to do something a little different.
Earlier this year, I pulled my "backup" flashlight out of one of my bags and found that the batteries in it were dead. This was no problem - I also carried a spare set of batteries in that bag. The expiration data on those spare batteries was 2014 - 10 years ago.
So, to help me remember to rotate the batteries in my bags (and do that at least once per year), I started this year to use the batteries from my bags to use in the decorations where batteries are needed, placing fresh-new batteries in my bags. Hopefully with this, the next time I need batteries for my flashlight, they'll not be so old.
